i personally like that there are no classes. it puts FAR more variability into play styles. classes really put too many limits into what you can and cannot do. with this style of play its possible to have your own special play style with your own strengths and weaknesses, it puts more of yourself into the character. and with summons you have the ability to compensate for said weaknesses whether it be by improving them or further specializing in your strengths making the weak points negligable.
